Why should I buy from you?
We believe that our high quality products can be identified and purchased from numerous locations by a client that is educated and determined to invest in quality. However it more diifficult to find the level of committment and service that we provide to our clients before, during and after the sale. Our service sets us apart from our competitors. We’re locally owned and operated and our desire to protect our growing reputation in the St. Louis Metropolitan area is your insurance policy. If we let you down, we let ourselves down and risk our ability to support our families. Our staff, with 40 years of combined experience, is highly trained so we know the ins and outs of window fashions design, measuring and installation – even for challenging specialty windows, such as arches and angle tops. We can help you with motorized blinds and shades and those "green" product options that are good for your home and our environment. At Eye on Design, we we respect your desire to invest in a quality window treatment and we want to help you choose products, colors and styles that will serve you for 10-20 years. We consistantly work to provide our clients with a thoroughly satisfying shopping experience and a reliable local resource for many years to come.
Are your prices competitive?
Yes! We recognize the need for both competitive pricing and exceptional value. When you look at the combination of quality, service, expertise and product selection we provide, we believe you’ll find that our prices are competitive.
If you have pricing that is extremely low for similar products, please be careful. In this tough economy, some unsavory sales tactics have surfaced that are hard to identify without some extra investigation.
Do you offer a complete Hunter Douglas Collection?
Yes, we offer the full selection of Hunter Douglas window fashions, so you can find exactly what you want for your home. This includes all the very newest products, colors and fabrics that Hunter Douglas occasionally adds to keep up with design trends, color changes and consumer wishes. We also carry the exclusive Alustra® Collection.
Will you Remove and/or Install window treatment purchased from others?
We are here to meet the needs of our clients. If you need installation service call us. Our rates are detailed below. If you have purchased products from us before, you will enjoy the benefits of lower rates forever.
Standard Installation Rate $65/hour
Client Installation Rate $55/hour
Typically, we require a 50 percent deposit on all custom-made products at the time you place your order. When the project is fully installed to your satisfaction, the remaining 50 percent is due.
How do I Protect Myself From the Purchase of Inferior Product?
1 - Ask the following questions about warranty?
- What is under warranty and how do I facilitate the warranty if I need to?
- Is labor to remove, repair and reinstall included in my warranty?
- What is the labor rate I will be expected to pay if I need help facilitating my warranty?
- How long are the cords under warranty (All of them break eventually due to normal wear and no company warranties them for life. Hunter Douglas offer a 7 year warranty for cords which is the longest one available in the industry)
2 - If you are looking to utilize your $1,500 tax credit with your window treatment purchase, ask to see written verification that the product presented to you is indeed certified by the government to meet the strict guidelines for this program.
3 - When seeking an energy efficient product, ask to see written verification of the r-values for the products you are considering. Many companies will not have this information or it will include a "typical" window system making it difficult for you to compare apples to apples.
4 - If purchasing faux wood or wood blinds compare the warranties on slat warping, twisting and fading and check the number of ladders required to support the slats. Inferior products will have more ladders in place to support the slats which are susceptible to the problems detailed above.
Do you offer picture hanging services?
A good carpenter is a terrible thing to waste! Of course we can help you hang those pictures.
Through our access to commercial contracting services we have also, retrimmed garage doors, hung lighting fixtures, replaced exterior doors, moved electrical outlets, installed new sinks and countertops, replaced vinyl siding, tiled bathrooms, moved plumbing to rennovate a laundry room, built drywall closets, repaired plaster, hung towel rods and more.

Which products are eligible for the governement tax credit?
The Hunter Douglas Duette Architella Shade is the only government registered energy star product that does not require installation with a trim kit due to the superior engineering of its cellular structure!
Purchase your Architella shades, designed to meet the strict requirements of the program with regard to installation locations and control options, before 12-31-10 and earn 30% of the material costs back as a Federal Tax Credit.
You can earn up to $1,500 if you have not yet utilized any of this cumulative 2009 & 2010 credit available to all americans.
What are your labor rates for repairs, installation and warranty work?
We offer in-house repair services for a variety of window treatments in addition to the Hunter Douglas products that we offer. If you are able to bring your broken window treatments to our store you will see a reduction in costs as detailed below. If you have purchased products from us before, you will enjoy the benefits of lower rates forever.

Is it worth while to talk about window treatments before we build?
Yes! Yes! and Yes!
We hear one customer every month say "I wish I knew this when I built my house!"
By sharing your vision for window treatment at the end of the project we can make sure that you have the right blocking in place behind the wall, the right amount of wall space on the sides of your window, the right place to place your outlets and light switches and floor vents, the right places to run wiring for motorized treatments, the right amount of depth in the window, the right type of operating hardware on the window and if you love shutters, we have a trick that can save you some serious $$$!

Do you provide custom drapery?
Yes. At Eye on Design we call this the frosting and we love to frost the windows. Well designed shades and blinds create a beautiful and functional base treatment (we call it cake) but custom drapery and top treatments personalize the window and the room! If it goes on a window, we have it or can make it just for you!
How far do you travel to provide FREE In-home Consultations?
For Illinois residents, your In-Home Consultation is complimentary if you live within a 30 mile or 45 minute radius of downtown Belleville, IL. In Missouri we offer the same service to all home owners within the 255/270 loop. If you live outside of these parameters but withing 60 miles or 90 minutes, you will be invoiced for $25 per hour for each round trip from Belleville, IL. Should you purchase from Eye on Design, these fees will be credited to your purchase price. To date, we have completed beautiful projects as far as Naperville, IL, Mount Vernon, IL, Steeleville, IL, Union, MO and Chesterfield, MO so don't be shy if you are serious about getting a project we can help you with off of your list.
That depends on what products you order. All of our products are custom made to your exact specifications, and some take longer than others to produce and ship to us. Once you place your order, we will keep you in the loop every step of the way so you know what to expect about the installation date.
In general, you can expect to receive hard treatments in 3-5 weeks and soft treatments in 6-8 weeks depending on fabric availability.
Will you help me select the right products?
Our knowledgeable staff will walk you through the choices available and ask the right questions, to help you create a personalized and distinctive look that fits your lifestyle, your functional needs and your budget. In addition, they can help you select colors, textures and finishes that complement your interior décor beautifully. With their design experience, product expertise and intensive training, our professional staff will walk you through the decision-making process, gathering information to help them suggest the perfect solution.
What is the best way to start the process?
We recommend that you visit our 1,500 square foot showroom in Belleville first. If you haven’t purchased window treatments for a while, you’ll probably be surprised by the variety of products available. Our large display blinds and shades let you see, touch and operate window fashions up close and personal; and our knowledgeable staff will walk you through the choices. Your showroom visit will help you make a better decision about what to buy. Then, a designer will meet with you in your own home to help you finalize your window fashions selections – ensuring that everything you order perfectly complements your home décor and meets your functional needs.

As a Retail Store, we have developed a wonderful relationship with a St. Louis commercial contracting firm. This professional firm employs a wide range of expert craftsmen. Because their purchasing strength is so great, they obtain deep discounts from these craftsmen that are happy to have steady, well organized and well coordinated work.
Eye on Design applies a small mark-up to compensate us for our design assistance and coordination time and can now provide these services to you at a competitive market rate with an added level of service that you would not normally experience.
With this firm we have built closets, hung lighting, moved outlets, tiled showers, moved plumbing fixtures, replaced garage door trim kits, repaired exterior siding, repaired plaster, repaired popped seams in drywall ceilings, replaced exterior doors.
Our clients were not even home when the work was done! Eye on Design coordinated everything from beginning to end and met contractors at the home as needed.

Why do you do the measuring?
Window fashions are more complex than you might think. Many questions arise when we come to your home about how you will use your window fashions, how often you will operate them, whether you have children or pets in the home, what furniture might be placed in front of the window, etc. We know how to ask the right questions to make sure your window treatments function for optimal performance and ease of use. With many window fashions, exact (and knowledgeable) measuring and installation are critical, especially for inside mount situations and especially with hard, fitted products such as shutters. A measuring job done inaccurately can cost you lots of money if window fashions don’t fit correctly. In addition, many homes have imperfections in window shape or protrusions that an expert installer can address up front to prevent window treatment problems later. Besides, if you pay for a custom window treatment, it should be custom to the window it is designed for and you shouldn't worry about the fit.
